Care for the environment
We care about the world we’re leaving our children. That’s why we love using wood. It’s sustainable – we make sure more trees are planted than are cut down. It’s natural – each item has its unique grain, small knots, and variations in colour. And our products are built to last, which ultimately means less waste.
The majority of the wood we use is birch, harvested from European forests. Many of our products are certified to the two globally recognised forest management schemes shown below.
If you have questions about certification details for a particular product, please call customer service.
Community Playthings is a member of the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP) which demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development. In fact, we were a finalist for the 2013 Sustainability Award. Our membership with Club Green ensures that we meet or exceed all legal requirements, and our Environmental Management System is accredited to ISO 14001.

We heat our factory using wood from sustainable sources. We re-use or recycle all cardboard, stretch film and wood packaging from our suppliers. Our carton supplier uses a large percentage of recycled material in the board used for our cartons.
Our participation in the Wastepack compliance scheme ensures all our packaging recycling obligations are met.
Community Playthings products contain no substances that would be hazardous for children's health. Compared with commonly used solvent-based finishes, our clear water-borne wood finish is far safer as well as being environmentally benign.
To reduce waste and emissions associated with transportation of goods, our carrier combines deliveries wherever possible, making the most efficient use of resources.
Community Playthings is pleased to be able to support the environment in these ways.
